How to Reach Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is well connected to other states including Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab and Uttarakhand. Himachal can br reached from nearby towns and cities by road. The prominent route to Himachal Pradesh is by bus.

By Air

There are small landing strips near Kullu, Dharamsala and Shimla which receive flights from Delhi. The airport near Shimla is at Jubbarhatti, 23 km from Shimla city and is connected to Delhi. The airport at Gaggal is 14 km from Dharamshala, 10 km from Kangra and 23 km from its twin town Mcleodganj. The airport near Kullu is at Bhuntar. Airport is at a distance of 10 km from Kullu and 50 km from Manali. Major nearest Airports which are well connected to major cities are Chandigarh, Amritsar.

By Rail

The nearest broadgauge railway line are Pathankot and Kalka. Pathankot is 85 Km from Dharamshala. Kalka is 90 Km from Shimla. You may also reach Himachal Pradesh by train through the old metre-gauge line from Pathankot to Jogindernagar and Kalka to Shimla. The journey between Kalka and Shimla takes about six hours and is one of the finest ways of enjoying the landscape.

By Road

All the major tourist circuits of Himachal Pradesh are well connected by road.  There are regular bus services from Ambala, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Pathankot  to Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Kangra. One can also hire taxis from nearby places to reach Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is connected by road to all major cities in north India. Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Manali, Kangra is well connected with Pathankot via road.
